Description:
We will pick you up from your hotel at 06:45 AM and transfer you to the Wild Boar Wharf. After boarding the boat, we’ll start sailing towards the iconic floating islands of Uros (a 25-minute journey). Once here, the locals will welcome you to their respective island. Our local bilingual guide will talk about the locals, their customs, the emergence of these islands, and the island chief will demonstrate how they build these islands with totora reeds. You’ll have the option to take a fun trip on one of the totora reed boats (this is optional and has an additional cost). Continuing our tour, we reach the island of Taquile. Upon arrival at the port, we begin a gradual hike uphill that will lead us to the main square in about 45 minutes. Once there, the guide will talk to you about the locals’ way of life here. You’ll also have the option to witness how the locals weave textiles. This textile art, dating back to the ancient Inca days and being part of the local population’s daily life, was declared “intangible cultural heritage of humanity” by UNESCO. Along the way, you’ll visit different tourist spots. We’ll stop for lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, around 02:30 PM, you’ll board the boat back to Puno. Around 05:30 PM, the boat will dock in Puno. We’ll meet you at the pier and transfer you back to your hotel in Puno.
